History

Established in 2007 by Morgan Quarry, Kirby Jinnah, David Verlee and Burn Jennings, Bowen Island Football Club (BIFC) has become a cornerstone of the Bowen Island Community. Committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle, we foster a lifelong passion for football/soccer while emphasizing the fun and social benefits of team sports.

As a registered nonprofit since 2013, BIFC is dedicated to enhancing our programs and facilities. Notably, we played a pivotal role in developing the turf field facility in 2009 and then upgrading it in 2020. It is now utilized for youth and adult programs as well as by the local community school (BICS).

Our ongoing mission is to enrich the community by providing a vibrant soccer experience for the next generation of players.

'SOCCER
FOR
ALL'

Mission

To positively influence our community through a healthy, safe, and fun environment, promoting a life-long love of soccer for all.

The Bowen Island FC board convened a Strategic Planning Session in Fall 2022, collaborating with members of the Bowen Island Soccer Community to outline a five-year plan for the Club. Central to our discussions was the commitment to making a positive impact on our broader community. We will adhere to this guiding philosophy and strategic plan as we continue to expand and enhance the club.

Official BIFC Crests

In 2023 a redesign of the BIFC crest was authorised by the board and was awarded to Andre Bussanich. This formed the basis of our 2024 Rebrand.

Our official BIFC crests are utilized across various platforms including websites, digital media, print materials, and social media. The version without 'EST 2007' is specifically designed for embroidery on uniforms and instances where the crest is scaled down significantly in size.

This crest serves as an alternative logo for specific use cases. Its role within the club is yet to be determined, so please refrain from using.

Original Crest

2007-2022 - This crest is no longer to be used except for archival and historical pieces. Even then it should be used sparingly and where possible the current version should appear alongside it.

Usage Online & Social Media Approach

Screenshot 2024-10-11 at 11.56.09 AM.png

To create an aesthetically pleasing Instagram grid that effectively represents different content buckets for BIFC enhancing engagement and brand identity.

Plan and curate content in advance to ensure a cohesive visual theme.

News and Updates:

Highlight club announcements, updates, and calls-to-action.

Soccer-Core:

Showcase the essence of the sport through vibrant and dynamic color images. Feature action shots, player profiles, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of training sessions.

Community Engagement:

Reflect the club's involvement in the local community.

Capture the camaraderie and spirit of team events, fan interactions, and community outreach initiatives.

On social, we recommend to use logos and copy sparingly; for boosted posts, news, updates, call-to-actions, etc. Try to balance with unbranded grid images. Too much text in our posts is busy / hard to read. Best practice is to add text in the copy. Better for SEO and easier to update if needed.

Aim to keep 9:16 portrait posts 4:5 safe and avoid copy/logos being cut off when content is previewed.

Where appropriate utilize in app link features to help drive viewers towards our website.
