On Saturday April 5th we held a coaching accreditation session with BC Soccer. It is an important part of the requirements that we need to hit to qualify us for BC Soccer Quality Soccer Provider status, it is also a key step in ensuring that our coaches have the skills, training and confidence needed to deliver the best possible programs to our players.

We had a great turnout, working with multiple age groups from U5 up to U13, focusing on the following programs, Active Start, Fundamentals, Learn to Train and Soccer for Life. We were blessed with great weather, and are immensely thankful to Joe Jhutty, BC Soccer's Learning Facilitator, for travelling out to Bowen Island to run the session.

This is a four hour session, with coaches expected to show prior knowledge from a supporting online program that they need to complete in advance, and then judged on their ability to run and adapt various drills, relevant to the age groups that they coach.
Several BIFC Youth Players were also in attendance to help take part in the practices, and they represented the club brilliantly, following instructions, showing respect and displaying plenty of skill!

Our coaches will have taken a lot from the day, and seemed to really enjoy it, but we can't thank them enough for giving up their time at the weekend to be the best coaches that they can be. We're tremendously lucky to have such community minded volunteers at the Club, and without them we wouldn't be able to provide the programs that we do.

If you are interested in coaching with BIFC, but haven't taken your first steps yet, then let us know, we're always excited to find new coaches and are able to provide all the support and training to make it a success. If you'd like to know more email us at info@bowenfc.com.
