BIFC Announces 2022 Award Winners

Bowen Island FC announced its 2022 Award winners at its annual Awards and Appreciation Night at the Bowen Island Golf Club on June 18th.



The Club used the occasion to show their deep appreciation to our volunteer coaches and managers who have shown such incredible commitment and dedication to BIFC and the Bowen community through their involvement. Several coaches and managers were nominated for the Club's Above&Beyond Award for those who have shown outstanding support for BIFC. This years recipents were Jerome Curlier, Ella Solin, Lee Vincent, Ivan Jensen and Ann Walters.


The Club also announced its inaugural BIFC Hall of Fame inductees in recognition of years of outstanding contributions, inspiration and commitment to Bowen Island Football Club and the Bowen Island community. Former President, coach and Technical Director and Club Founder Burns Jennings was selected as a Builder along with former BIFC Board member and longtime Adult coed league player and supporter Clive Jones. Former President and Club founder David Verlee was selected as a Builder as well as former BIFC team manager, women's team player and past BICR Recreation Director Christine Walker.


The very first Hall of Fame Player inductees were Molly Quarry and Brian Cuba. Cuba played on the BIFC VMSL Men's Team before moving on to play with Mountain United (BCSPL) and Capilano University. He was a U16 Metro League MVP, 2016 Rockridge Secondary MVP and 3X North Shore senior soccer First Team All-Star. Quarry played with BIFC from U7-U13 before moving on to Mountain United, the BC Provincial team, Whitecaps Elite / REX program, the University of Nebraska and the University of Montana. In 2020 she was selected to the Canadian Under-20 National Team which competed at the Concacaf Championships (World Cup Qualifying) in Dominican Republic and earned her first international cap against Guatemala. She currently plays for TSS Rovers in League1 BC.


Earlier this month, BIFC handed out its first BIFC Award of Merit in recognition of the players who best exemplify the values of Bowen Island Football Club: Accountability, Character, Commitment, Respect and Coachability. This year's recipients were Noah Leonard, Olivia Montgomery, Kaija Flory, Eva Weismiller, Liam Shannon, Mabel Gutelius and Loic Winny.

All the awards were designed and created by Dayna Purdy. BIFC wishes to extrend its congratulations to all the award winners.
