Bowen Island FC is currently preparing for a 2021-2022 league season involving teams playing on and off island. In order for BIFC to best prepare we need to have an idea of what to expect in terms of player numbers at various age levels.
We must advise the BCCSL and North Sore Youth Soccer Association of which teams we plan to enter into their league by July in order to be part of their upcoming season.
In order to create our Fall practice schedule, order uniforms and assign coaches and managers for each team, we MUST have an idea of who is registered as soon as possible. It is essential for us to have parents register as soon as possible so we can prepare our teams and provide the best possible soccer experience for our players.
Based on on our current numbers this is what we expect to offer in 2021-2022 but can only confirm once we have everyone registered.
U9 Boys (2013)
U9 Girls or Coed (2013)
We have more than 20 U8s currently registered and we need minimum of 12 players to form a team. So we may form two teams or we may only have enough to form one team.
We can play in the boys division with girls if we do not have enough girls to form a girls only team.
U10 Boys (2012)
U10 Girls or Coed (2012)
We have roughly 20 U9s currently registered and we need minimum of 12 players to form a team. So we may form two teams or we may only have enough to form one team.
We can play in the boys division with girls if we do not have enough girls to form a girls only team.
U12 Boys (2010 + 2011)
We expect last season’s U11 Boys team to play as a U12 Boys team this Fall.
U12 Girls (2009-2011)
We expect last season’s U12/U13 girls team to form the base of a U12 girls team this Fall. Wheat been given permission form the league to field some overage (2009) players so we expect to field a team of 12-14 players at U12.
Every year we face a struggle in answering parents questions on what teams we will offer in September based on limited registration information. We are hoping parents will help us by registering as soon as possible. We do not expect payment right away but rather a commitment to playing on a youth team in 2021-2022.
In order for us to commit to a place on a team, a player must be registered by July 15, 2021. BIFC cannot commit to assigning a player to a team after that date.
As we did in August of 2020, Bowen Island FC will assess the situation in August 2021 in regards to committing to a league season or deciding to keep some or possibly all of our youth teams on island only.
Thank you very much for helping us best prepare for the upcoming season.
