Bowen Island FC is pleased and very proud to announce Abby Walters has been selected to the Mountain United intake team (2009s) for the BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL).
Walters joins Arjun Bristowe (NVFC 2009 Intake), William Segal (Mountain United 2008s), Kaia Hiller (Thompson Okanagan FC 2008s) and Molly Quarry (Mountain United 2002 and 2001) to have been selected to the province's highest league. BIFC Men's player Brian Cuba also played for Mountain but did not play his youth soccer with BIFC.
"Abby's selection to Mountain United (and the BCSPL) is a testament to what hard work, dedication, commitment and a fantastic attitude and personality can lead to. It's hard for me to think of a player I have enjoyed coaching more than Abby," said BIFC Club GM and TD Morgan Quarry. "The first time I saw her she looked me right in the eye and I knew she was something special. From that moment on she has never looked back and on behalf of all the coaches who have helped her on her BIFC journey, including Inga Toews, Barash Vaziri, Deidre Farah, Cameron Chell and Ella Solin we extend our sincere congratulations and best wishes.
"Abby is the perfect ambassador for what our Club stands for. Her character and attitude exemplify what our players can achieve but perhaps more importantly as an example and role model on how to act and behave in order to get there. We look forward to following her as she begins this next chapter in her soccer journey."
Walters has been a part of BIFC since 2015 when she first joined the club as a 6-year-old. She is the second BIFC player to graduate directly from the BIFC girls side to the BCSPL, following Hiller joining TOFC last season (Quarry played on boys teams).
